2011 Psi U Rush Schedule

September 15th, 2011 – IFC First Rush
Come to the greek village and find out which fraternity you fit into. This dry event is an open house where you can come and find out more about what it is like to be a member of a fraternity. Come out and get a tour of the house and talk to the brothers.

September 19th, 2011 – IFC Second Rush
Same as first rush, the Second Rush event gives all rushees a chance to tour the greek village once again and learn even more about what each fraternity has to offer.

September 25th, 2011 – IFC Formal Rush
Enjoy a night of fine dining and networking with Psi U. Join us for an all-inclusive dinner and find out what Psi U is all about from our executives and alumni. This is an invite-only event and a formal dress code (suit and tie) is mandatory.

September 26th, 2011 – IFC Bids Day
Decision time. Bids day is held during the day at the Student Union Building. It’s time to choose which fraternity you fit into. Bids day is where you will join a fraternity as a pledge.

On the last day of winter session classes at UBC every year, there is a campus-wide day of celebration. The big concert on campus is called Block Party and this year it featured Switch (half of Major Lazer), Rye Rye, Felix Cartal, Team Canada DJs and a host of others. The Greek village comes together on this day to dance and play music before the show. It’s a pretty special day. Our own Alex Gausman took some photos for us.

Each year as spring falls upon us and the end of the academic year grows near, the brothers of Psi Upsilon celebrate our triumphs at the annual year end formal. Brothers old and young suit up and treat themselves and a lucky lady to a classy evening of epic proportions.

Like years past, our friends at Phat Cat Limousines moved us around the city in style. The wonderful people at Sunset Bay Yacht Group prepared an elegant dinner for us to enjoy on the water while viewing Vancouver from the waters of Burrard Inlet and English Bay. And of course, the night wouldn’t be complete without the help of our professional photographer, Geoff Howard to capture every moment!

As dinner wound down, drinks and dancing fired up! With an open dance floor and posh chill lounge aboard the yacht there was room for everyone to enjoy the night. Highlights from the evening include the the infamous roast of our graduating members and crowning of this years Psi U Sweetheart, Paniz Pasha. Honourable mention went out to Elaina Gyuro and Katie Yan for all their contributions to the chapter throughout this year and years past. Thank you to these lovely ladies and all the active and alumni brothers for their contributions to a highly successful year for the fraternity!

For the second year in a row, the Zeta Zeta chapter of Psi Upsilon at UBC captured the Men’s Elite Volleyball Championship. Sports at UBC are set in tiers. Starting at 3rd tier, then to second tier, then to first, then to elite. Can’t wait to kill it again next year!!

Our boys were thanked at the end of the evening for such a civil display and the evening left smiles on everyone’s face. Our new guys are enjoying being part of the fraternity more and more and it is opportunities like this that are coming to form the backbone of the Zeta Zeta social calendar.

Next trip to the institute is in January. Granville clubs be advised!

12' Projection screen with HD sports

Through a lot of hard work and a lot of scrounging and saving we were able to redo the living space on our main floor. Our old dining room has been replaced by a vibrant garnet-clad living room and theatre. It features a completely brother-constructed and installed 10ft’ wide projection screen being fed with beautiful images from a new digital projector. Watching hockey games and movies is an unbelievable experience.

Our old living room has been replaced by a new dining room. The carpets were replaced with pine wood laminate and our dining tables and benches look great in it! We also painted the main hallway a deep “bear-rug” brown to tie it all together.
